Mi casa su casa: Kitchen

This is the kitchen at my house in Los Angeles. I like being able to hang out with friends while I cook – which is not nearly as often as I like. I mean, let’s face it: I travel a lot! Anyway, I like to socialize while I cook, so I made a stainless steel table that extends from the island. The blue concrete counters are very cool (and eco-friendly, by the way) and I made sure to give them lots of coats of sealer. If I spill a little red wine on them, it just adds to the patina. The bar stools were once chemistry lab stools I picked up at Emory (like the chairs in the dining room) and fitted with new colorful seats. Mi casa su casa: Dining room

[...] I found the table base on the street and made a new table top that I painted with high-gloss airplane enamel. The chairs were bought at an Emory University sale for $5 each and the sideboard at a second-hand store in Atlanta. I refinished the wood and put new legs on. The painting on the wall is by my friend Anke Schofield. I threw away the empty pizza boxes! Mi casa su casa: Kitchen [...]
[...] If you look over in the right corner of the photo, you’ll see a funky-looking thing. It’s actually a light made out of coconut fiber. It gives off a great soft glow at night and is kind of a cousin to the rug made from strips of Ultrasuede. That rug feels awesome when you’re walking around in bare feet! Hello Ty: I am one of your best fan from Spain. I watch your program every day (from mondays to fridays) !!!! Your kitchen is beautiful and every house you help to built. You always give me good ideas for my house (in the near future, I hope). I used to work (as a teacher of spanish) and live in Georgia NE. Beautiful land. You have to be proud of your country and of Georgia. My “american family” is still there…Georgia will be always in my mind….

I love the colors. In France, a kitchen is the heart of the house and your kitchen is very warm. It makes you want to make delicious dishes.
