Hey Everyone

Welcome to my blog.  I gotta tell you, I’m really excited about this
whole blogging thing! I think we’ll have some fun together here!

Soon I’ll be checking in from the road letting you know how things are
going with EM:HE, including stories about what’s happening behind the
scenes.

I’ll also share design ideas.  If you’ve seen my book or magazine, you
know that I try to come up with ideas that anyone can make a reality
in their home.  I’ll keep doing that here.  Plus, I’ll answer your
emails—let’s say a bunch of people write me emails about one topic,
maybe it’s how to refinish a coffee table or how to choose flooring—
I’ll answer those questions here.

I’m also going to use this space to share the cool things I see every
day.  My travels take me all over the country and sometimes abroad,
and the people I meet and places I go are really cool.  So I’ll throw
some photos and videos up so you can journey along with me.

Right now though it’s a bit hectic because I’m in the middle of a
build for a really fantastic episode of Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition.  So hang tight while I wrap that up and check back soon.  In
the meantime, keep surfing my site for great tips on paint and color
and don’t forget to watch the webisode from my recent UKTV project in
England, “Ty’s Great British Adventure.”

See ya soon,

Ty

Hi Ty, Im from Venezuela and here we see Extreme Makeover Home Edition but very old although same seasons are enjoyed a lot.
That probabilities are that your magazines and are books sold in Latin America and translated in Spanish? I find that you are excellent designer and particularly I would like to also have your it lines that one sells in SEARS.
I wait an answer on your behalf that the successes continue…

Kisses and hugs.

Daniela

Hey ! Great idea to have a blog to share ideas, anecdotes, with everyone !
I live in Paris, France (well, I’m French) and when I watched Extreme Makeover for the first time I was amazed ! So much energy ! I really miss it here in France, the design and decoration shows here are so… flat. They don’t bet on people, on what we can do together, solidarity is not really a french speciality…! Anyway I love your show ’cause it brings our faith in people back and it communicates so much energy that it gives a lot of it to me and helps with achieving what I beleive in. My father is a interior designer and doesn’t smile as much as you do !
I just wanted to say thanks ! :)

Bye!

Louise

Hey Ty,

We helped on the build you were referencing in your post. We produced the wall covering and canvas for your special room. What a great experience! We really enjoyed working with the production staff and everyone was so nice and thanked us so many times for helping. You guys are doing such a great job and have a wonderful impact on so many people’s lives. Unfortunately you were at another set when we installed the wall covering and we didn’t get to meet you as we had hoped. If you ever are in the area again, we’ll be there in an instant! Keep up the great work!

I spend all day helping others – watching your show uplifts me and fills up my soul for the next day. God bless you, the crew, the volunteers, and all the other earth angels who care about their fellow human beings! Just thanks for all you do in the world. — Ann Albers, angel communicator

Thank you!!!!

Kisses…Thais

Ty,

I’m so glad that you have changed your site to include interaction with your fans. I’m not sure how you find the time to do all that you do. I know that it’s a blessing to be in the position that you are in. If we all would just see that helping others is what it is all about so many problems could be solved. Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures!

Your biggest fan, Jewels

Hi Ty,

First of all, I like your new website. I’m looking forward what you are going put on the website and this blog. I’m a big fan of your show, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” since Season 1 and I didn’t miss a show. I just love your show and how you and your design team help the family change their lives even better with a brand new house. Every time I watch the show, I just wonder how you and your team build and design the house in just one week!?!? Every Sunday at 8pm, I just watch the show and sometimes I cry and sometimes I laugh (especially when you do crazy stuff like taking old house down and telling jokes) during the show. I just love your show and keep up a good work to help families who needs help in the country.

I also like your website especially your videos on explore page. I have a mac laptop and I use iphoto program for my pictures at my local YMCA events. I always taking photos at the youth races and events and I didn’t know that there is other tools to edited the photos! Thank you for the tip about using iphoto program! Now, I can edit the picture even better for my videos!

Hey, hi!
Good meeting you Sat. pm in PA after demo (Renee L. introduced us). We all agreed–our favorite demolition EVER, can’t wait ’til it airs. I wanted to tell you thanx for plugging the ADHD Experts on Call thing a while back, made a really great connection…
Speaking of plugging a good thing, can I just tell you what an awesome impact the EM:HE build last year has had on Freedom Hills (Renee Luther’s therapeutic horseback riding program)? It’s amazing to see how the generosity of the Makeover is being passed on daily to so many people in such a healing way. They’re celebrating the 1 year EM:HE anniversary at an Open House Dec 12-14, friends and fans can check it out at http://www.freedomhills.org
Best of luck this week with the rest of the current build!

Hi Ty,

Love your show and have been watching it since it’s inseption. I have gotten a lot of great ideas, especially when you spoke of why certain creations were done, along with the benefits. You see, I am just starting to build a house for my family as well. We live is a three bedroom townhouse, with seven people. I refinished the basement, and move there with my wife and our two year old. The master suite was temporarily converted to a two bedroom for two of the kids, with my oldest in the second bedroom, and my mom in the third. So, we are cramped. I am just sharing some of my personal challenges, and not looking for a time on the show. You seem like a very receptive guy, and thought some of this would be pleasing. So, after purchasing our land, 4 years later we have decided it was time (the townhouse is too crowded.) The new house will be six bedrooms, wow! I am still amazed that this is actually happening. My wife and I designed the layout of the plans, and we are using a builder as the GM for the project, since I still have a full time job. Well that is all for now, Wish me luck! By the way, have you ever considered doing a Canadian version of the show? There are some tremendous stories up here too, and depending on where you live it is not that cold. Keep up the good insights and the awesome show.

Hello Ty

Until you see for yourself, you just don’t know how awesome these homes are & it’s hard to conceive that this was done in 7 days. Your volunteers, crew, contractors, everyone involved you guys are just awesome people.!!!!!!

Hi Ty,
I am French (in situation of handicap). And I find the broadcaste mission (Extreme Makeover: Home Edition) brilliant ! You and your companions make some very good work always with the cheerfulness. You know how to look of the happiness to people who need it!

ps: sorry for my bad english :(

Hi Ty,
I am writing this with a much lighter heart now then I had weeks ago.
On 01-01-2008 Annabeth Rose and Carson Allen were born. After a week in the hospital they were allowed to leave the hospital. We had been told while my daughter Misty was carrying the twins that Annabeth has a problem with her heart. She has had tests done for the doctor to keep a check on it. That seems to be something so small now. On 03-17-2010 Misty took her to the doctor because of some symtoms that she had been noticing. Misty had been looking on line to see what might be causing the symtoms. She had carried this burden on her on without telling anyone what she was thinking had taken hold of her little girl. The doctor sent her over to the hospital to have blood drawn and tested. Misty got home between 5:00pm and 6:00pm and shortly after that she received a call from the doctor and told Misty to get her to the Sacert Heart Hospital in Pensacola,FL and the doctor would be waiting on her. She was Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She has been undergoing a agressive regiment of medication, received blood, received plasma, all kinds of antabiotics for different infections, had 3 bone marrow, and spinal taps,a IV port, all kinds of pokes and prodes above what anyone should face. But through it all she has been our little trooper. We have gotten good news today (04/06/2010) that the last marrow test showed that the cancer was undetectable so after the last marrow test on 04-16-2010 we are hoping and praying that the doctors say that she is in remission. Misty is also understanding that even though this is very, very good news that the cancer will always be lurking in the back ground. The doctors have said that she will have to be on a the medications for 2 1/2 years. This has been bad enough and the friends and family have rallied together and have put out donation jars in the businesses in the area and we are also suppose to have a bennifit dinner for them. The help has been great. But the house that they lived in, before Annabeth got sick, has a little mold problem. We had a lot of rain and it seeped under the wall in the kids bedroom so Misty moved them out of the bedroom. Misty asked the doctor if we kept the door closed and tried to kill the mold would she be able to go back to the house. He said NO. The kemo has killed her immune system. We have to wear masks when we visit her in the hospital. Misty has applied for a home through the Rural Development, but all this takes so much time. The house they were living in was rented. I did not know if you might could help them with a new house. Please respond so I will know if I need to try something different. I am Anna’s grandmother and I love them all very, very much just as most parent/grandparents, I am asking this without Misty knowing what I have done. I did not want to get her hopes up if you could not help. Thank You for reading my letter. Helen Hamilton(caring/loving mother/grandmother)

Helen:

Thanks for sharing your story. All applications are handled by ABC. I have nothing to do with who gets chosen for the show. It’s a surprise to me until a few weeks before the build when I get a dossier and house plans for the upcoming shows. We have an incredible team of people who go through the two-three thousand applications we get each week and find the extraordinary families who appear on our show. You can download the application here: http://abc.go.com/shows/extreme-makeover-home-edition/apply

Peace and prayers to you. -Ty
